RHS Photo Contest 2017

We want to inspire young and old alike to get outdoors with a camera and record how enriching and inspiring gardens and plants can be. Amateur and professional photographers can enter the updated competition, which runs from 26 May 2016 to 28 February 2017.

Not only has the prize money been boosted, we’ve also extended the range of categories, and to encourage more people to share their two passions of gardening and photography, taking part is now free of charge (maximum of five entries per application).

The nine categories are designed to have broad appeal, including Celebrating RHS Gardens, Pure Plants and Greening Grey Britain. There are also categories for Young Photographer (11–17 years) and Children’s Photographer (under 11s).

Photographers of all ages can enter the Social Media category: any image submitted via RHS Twitter, Instagram or Facebook accounts, using the hashtag #RHSphotocomp. The image can be related to anything horticultural or gardening, and a monthly winner will be selected by our social media followers. Each monthly winner will then be fed into the competition judging for overall category winner.

Eligibility: The RHS Photographic Competition is open to all – apart from anyone associated with the competition including RHS employees (and their partners and family), board and committee members, ambassadors, and competition sponsors and judges.

JUROR | Kevin Miller
Kevin Miller is the Curator at the Southeast Museum of Photography (SMP), a public museum located in Florida. He was Director of the SMP for 13 years until 2014. Since 2001 he has curated and presented more than 200 exhibitions and produced numerous catalogue texts and publications. The Southeast Museum of Photography is the largest exclusively photographic museum in the southeastern US, holds the largest photography collection in Florida and is one of the largest such institutions in the US. The museum holds a significant permanent collection with strengths in general photographic history, documentary photography and contemporary photography.

ABOUT THE CENTER FOR FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Founded in 2004 by photographers, The Center for Fine Art Photography is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) photography organization. We provide support to photographic artists through exhibition, promotion, portfolio reviews, publication, education and connection to a large community of other artists, curators, gallery owners and photographic professionals. HONORS | AWARDS
An international audience of collectors, curators, art consultants and other advocates of fine art photography will view the chosen artist’s work throughout the exhibition. Eligibility: Our calls for entry are open to all photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. The Center invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate.

Exhibit Prints: In order to be included in the online gallery or to receive an award, you must provide a professionally printed and presented image for gallery exhibition. The Center recognizes that some work is non-traditional and the presentation type is integral to the work. Colorful frames must be pre-approved. To encourage participation by photographers from around the world, the Center offers optional, professional, printing and framing services. Additional details will be provided upon request.
Acceptance Notice: Everyone who submits will receive an email notification of which images were accepted. Accepted images will be posted on the Center’s website.

Color Photography Contest 2016

 

Compass-logoThe Color photograph. Since the mid 20th century when our lives forever changed with the advent of Living Color, Color has become dominant in our imagery. We want to celebrate Color in all it’s forms at the SE Center.

Color of course, all subjects, analog, digital or antique processes, photographers of all skill levels and locations are welcome.

Our juror for Color is Diana Bloomfield. Diana has been an exhibiting photographer for over thirty years. She has received numerous awards for her images, including a 1985 New Jersey State Visual Arts Fellowship, and five Regional Artist Grants from the United Arts Council of Raleigh, NC, most recently for 2015-16.

Night photography in all its variants. It will be selected the protagonist photograph for the poster of the 2nd edition of Night photography, long exposure and lightpainting Congress from Navarra, ILUMINARTE.

Works

Each competitor can submit up to 3 photographs, none of which can have won a prize in any other competition (Fomunity or otherwise) and to which they must hold the intellectual property rights.

The photographs must be at least 1 000 pixels and no more than 10 000 pixels, in JPG (JPEG) format, and can be no larger than 10 MB.

Basic digital processing (white balance, exposure, levels, contrast, saturation, focus, vignetting elimination …) and cleaning of particles and moderate cuts be accepted. Image modifications or part/s of it, that would make the photography to reflect a different reality to the photographed not be accepted.

The authors of the photographs they reach the final stage of the discussions may be asked, if necessary, by any means, explanations about the image that the jury deems appropriate, including the RAW files.

Winners and finalists grant ILUMINARTE Congress the non-exclusive rights to publish the winning and finalist entries. These rights are limited to:
– making of official poster of the 2nd edition of ILUMINARTE Congress with the winning photograph
– publication on the ILUMINARTE Congress social networks for the purpose of publishing the contest results, and to promote new contests
– the exhibition of the works during the ILUMINARTE Congress, that will be held in Olite (Navarra, Spain) on 21 and 22 October 2016

To encourage originality, submitted photographs will not be published until the entry deadline has passed.

Fomunity reserves the right to remove any photograph from the contest if the jury or the Fomunity team considers that the photograph does not fit the proposed theme.
