The Unbeatable Magic of Uprising Sundowns

Meerschweinchenreport-img

«Meerschweinchenreport» is one of the leading art and culture blogs in Germany that invites photographers from around the globe to cope with the usual highly recognised as the unusual in order to encourage its participants to contribute their marvellous work to our great photo competition «The Unbeatable Magic of Uprising Sundowns».

What might appear as a joke – at first glance – will do both celebrate and honour the enlightening diversity of sunlight enriching our nature’s life on earth; and awakens carefully our souls’ poetry. Chaired by living legend Anthony Haden-Guest all jury members (Catherine Millet, Ute Eskildsen, A. D. Coleman, Rick Poynor and Giuseppe Vinolo) might not wait initiating a philosophic discussion about to be and not to be – based on the selected submissions – which might end up leading our minds into a new galaxy of meaningful
thoughts.

Will our competition save the world? Honestly, we do not know. It is, however, hard to believe that people showing a greater interest in capturing breathtaking sundowns are planning WW III at the very same time. Our conclusion: there cannot be enough peace keeping sundown photo competitions these days, can they? So, spread the good news via whatever and be part of our sunny peace movement!

Participate in the Natural Realm – Photography Contest

Darkroom-Gallery-ImageHumans have always looked upon the beauty, majesty, and ingenuity of the world around them with reverent wonder. The regular rhythms of the sun and moon, the myriads of living creatures in all their splendid diversity, the magnificence of a flower, a butterfly’s wings or a snow crystal – The ancient Greeks aptly called the universe kosmos,
a word denoting order and harmony. This underlying order is reflected in many intriguing patterns in nature.

Contest Details
CALLING FOR SUBMISSIONS
DEADLINE May 13th, 2015 Midnight EST
Juror: Dan Burkholder
Wild, wild wilderness, it’s grandeur and grace epically and intimately
explored through photography.

Many of nature’s patterns are related to the golden section and the Fibonacci numbers. For instance, the golden spiral is a logarithmic or equiangular spiral – a type of spiral found in unicellular foraminifera, sunflowers, seashells, animal horns and tusks, beaks and claws, whirlpools, hurricanes, and spiral galaxies.

Darkroom Gallery is calling for photography that investigates this intrinsic magic in the natural world. From macro shots to large scale landscapes show us your examples of this otherworldly complexity within our natural realm.

Eligibility – Worldwide, 18+

Entry Fee – $24/first 4 images, $5/each additional images

Prizes
All selected entries are exhibited in our gallery and included in a full color exhibit catalog. Juror’s Choice receives a 30×48″ vinyl exhibit banner featuring their image, free entry into a future exhibition, and a free exhibition catalog.
Honorable Mentions receive free exhibition catalogs and free entry in a future exhibition. People’s Choice gains free entry into a future exhibit. We offer free matting and framing of accepted entries for the duration of each of our exhibition, subject to standard sizes. Photographers set their own prices if they wish to sell their work and retain all rights to their photographs.

Limit of Entry none

Copyright Photographers retain all rights to their photographs.

Usage of Entry – It’s a challenge balancing promotion vs protection. We certainly prevent simple right/ctrl click copy of images off our web site. But we go one step further to protect your work from being misappropriated. The images we show to the public are down sampled to 360,000 pixels. (all aspect ratios get equal representation). Not just scaled. Large enough to appreciate on a screen but too small for quality reproduction when scraped with a screen capture utility.
