“Splash” Photography Awards 2015

“Splash” Photography Awards 2015

Endlessly fun but dangerous stuff; sometimes there is too little… sometimes there is too much. It’s beauty can take our breath away, and it’s power can wipe our world like the bucket toss of an angry giant. Like fire, cold and night, water occupies a fundamental place deep in the root of our collective psyche. We can be “keeping our head above water” or “drowning our sorrows.” Things can be going “swimmingly” or life can seem to be go “against the tide.” In love we can be “showered with kisses” or wind up “on the rocks.”

This month 1650 Gallery invites you to flush the bilge water from your mind and dive into the deep end for an ocean of fun. Freud said sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but Christie Brinkley in a moonlit motel pool is a whole other thing altogether. So bathe your soul in the stormy sea of photographic creativity, and remember that although a river runs through it, it is but a drop in the bucket compared to the ocean of possibilities that rain down upon us all.

Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be included in the SPLASHPhotography 2015 exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an online gallery exhibition page.

Eligibility: Open to all photographers, worldwide.

Entry Fee: $35 for up to 5 images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each.

Prizes:

  • Approximately 50 works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be shown in the SPLASHPhotography 2015 exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Image requirements: JPG format; 72 ppi, image width up to 1024 pixels on the longest side.

Online submission of digital images. All accepted entries must submit a high res jpegs to be included in the printed catalog. E-mail JPGs and an application form to 1650gallery@gmail.com All accepted entries must submit a high res jpeg (300-360 dpi , minimum size 5×7″) to be included in the printed SHOW CATALOG.

Copyright: You grant 1650 gallery the right to use accepted photographs to promote the exhibition, for display on the 1650 Gallery website and for inclusion in an exhibit catalog. The artist’s name and photo title will be included in the exhibition, and wherever the work is displayed.
