Win $12000 in Cash Prize – The Big Picture Photo Contest

What on Earth have you photographed? The annual BigPicture: Natural World Photography Competition encourages photographers from around the world to contribute their work to this photo competition that will both celebrate and illustrate the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspire action to protect and conserve it through the power of imagery. The winning images are exhibited at one of the most prestigious science institutions in the world in San Francisco California, USA.

Contest Prizes:

$12,000 in cash prizes to be awarded to the 2019 BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition winners: The Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000 for the best overall image and be featured in the annual exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences (July 26 – October 27, 2019). The first place winners of the seven official categories will each receive $1,000 in cash and also have their winning images featured in the annual exhibit. Up to 6 additional finalists will be awarded a certificate of recognition for each category, with the exception of the Photo Series category. The Photo Series category will have one First Place awarded.

Entry Fee

$25USD for up to 10 single image submissions in any category; $15USD for 1 Photo Story submission (5-8 images)

Copyright Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to submitted photographs.

By entering the Competition, each Entrant grants to the Academy a non exclusive, irrevocable license to reproduce, publish and display submitted images in all media throughout the world directly in relation to the Competition in perpetuity. This includes but is not limited to use in the context of the Academy website and social media sites, the exhibition of winning images (grand prize, first place, and finalist images) at the Academy, and promotional and marketing materials regarding the Competition and Exhibition. In other circumstances, commercial opportunities may exist for awarded photographers to benefit from the use of their image, such as print sales or merchandise: where a commercial benefit is likely to arise, permission will be sought in advance and terms and conditions will be agreed upon with the photographer.

iPhone Photography Awards 2019

IPPAWARDS has been instrumental in launching the careers of some of the iPhone photographers worldwide. Since the inception of awards in 2007, winning photographer’s have gained wide exposure, and have been celebrated and acknowledged by the most respected media outlets around the world. Among them are Newsweek, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, Fortune, The Guardian, NPR, La Stampa, Cult of Mac, Buzzfeed, Time, El Pais .

The eleventh annual iPhone Photography Awards received thousands of entries submitted by iPhone photographers from more than 140 countries around the world.

Eligibility

Entries are open worldwide to photographers using an iPhone or iPad. Photos should not be published previously anywhere. The posts on personal accounts (Facebook, Instagram etc.) are eligible

All photographers compete for the 4 IPPAWARDS Photographers of the Year. Grand Prize, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Nikon Small World Competition 2019

The Nikon International Small World Competition first began in 1975 as a means to recognize and applaud the efforts of those involved with photography through the light microscope. Since then, Small World has become a leading showcase for photomicrographers from the widest array of scientific disciplines.

Eligibility

Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible, with the exception of employees of Nikon, their families, the contest judges, and individuals engaged in the manufacture or sale of microscopes, related accessories or photographic equipment.

A photomicrograph is a technical document that can be of great significance to science or industry. But a good photomicrograph is also an image whose structure, color, composition, and content is an object of beauty, open to several levels of comprehension and appreciation.

The Nikon Small World Competition is open to anyone with an interest in photography through the microscope. Truly international in scope, entries have been received from the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Winners have included both professionals and hobbyists.

The subject matter is unrestricted and any type of light microscopy technique is acceptable, including phase contrast, polarized light, fluorescence, interference contrast, darkfield, confocal, deconvolution, and mixed techniques. Entries submitted to Nikon are then judged by an independent panel of experts who are recognized authorities in the area of photomicrography and photography. These entries are judged on the basis of originality, informational content, technical proficiency and visual impact.
