MonoVisions Photography Awards

MonoVisions Photography Awards are an international open call for photographers using black and white medium to express their visual language.

Our aim is to discover the best monochrome photographers from all over the world and deliver the best opportunities to be recognized and rewarded for their work. You can compete for $5000 in cash prizes in two categories: Black and White Photo of the Year 2019 and Black and White Series of the Year 2019.

Our annual competition is open to photographers of all backgrounds and all levels, including – professionals and amateurs. We accept all forms of black and white photography created with traditional or digital methods.

Our categories: Abstract, Architecture, Conceptual, Fine Art, Landscapes, Nature and Wildlife, Nude, People, Photojournalism, Portrait, Street Photography and Travel.

Usage of your Images

By entering the competition, entrants do not transfer or surrender the copyright or other intellectual property rights in their work but if selected for the longlist or named a finalist or winner, artists may be asked to grant royalty-free worldwide rights to the Organiser, to reproduce, distribute, display reproductions, whether in whole or part, in any media now or hereafter known, including, but not limited to: display at exhibitions; on the website; publication of a book or catalogue featuring select entries in the competition; display in selected public locations; publication in magazines or online publications highlighting finalists, longlisted artists or winners of the competition and unrestricted rights to use all statements made in connection with the competition and in a way that the Organiser considers suitable, without the incidence of any liability for the Organiser.

Longlisted, finalists and winners may also be asked an authorised party delegated so by the Organiser to reproduce, distribute, display, and create derivative works of of the qualifying work in connection with the competition, associated events and shows as well as promotion of the competition, in any media now or hereafter known.

Sponsors of the Photomonitor Student Award and BCS Artificial Intelligence Award have the right to use the winning, finalist and longlist works in these categories and each artists’ name, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions. In all cases, these images will be clearly credited.

Entrants agree that personal data, especially name and address, may be processed, shared, and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the competition and any other purposes outlined in these Terms and Conditions. Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers

Open to women photographers, pro and non pro, working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Juried by Elisabeth Biondi, Curator, NYC.
Age: > 13 yers old.
Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements will be welcome.

13th Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers Prizes

The Jurors of the 13th Julia Margaret Cameron Award will select one Winner in the Professional Section and One Winner in the Non-Professional Section.

The Gala Awards will organize a solo exhibition for each overall Winner in the respective sections (Pro and Non Pro) taking care of all exhibition expenses, including printing and framing of up to 20 photographs each. The exhibition will be held in the Valid Foto Gallery in Barcelona on October 2019. The organization will have the right to change the venue and date in case of unforeseen circumstances. A curator designed by The Gala Award will assist the Winners in the selection of the work to be exhibited and will take care of the exhibition setup.

The two overall winners in the Pro and Non Pro sections will receive -on top of the fully-paid solo exhibition- US$1,500 each to cover travel and lodging expenses to attend the opening reception.

Collective exhibition of category winners and category honorable mentions. The Jurors will also select, in both Pro and Non-Pro Sections, runners up and honorable mentions, as well as a short list of finalists. All these selected photographers will be invited to exhibit (with the category winners) in a collective exhibition in a space contiguous to the solo exhibition of the two the overall winners. In the collective exhibition, the exhibition organization and venue costs will be borne by The Gala Awards, while the exhibitors will be charged for printing and framing as well as setup costs (hanging, labelling, and insurance) in the amount of $250, approximately, per piece. To participate in the exhibition artists will have to be able to submit high resolution files of 300dpi suitable for fine art printing.

Images of all awardees (Winners, Runner Ups, Honorable Mentions, and Finalists) will be exhibited online in The Gala Awards’ website during a minimum of two years.

All winners and honorable mentions will receive certificates of award.

About the Exhibition:
Morpho Gallery is pleased to announce its 13th annual juried photo exhibit. Photographers are invited to submit work for possible inclusion in the exhibition. Size limitation is 36” maximum in any direction, framing included. Original photography only, any and all subject matters and photo processes welcomed.
About the Juror:

Lloyd DeGrane is a Chicago-based freelance photographer whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, the Paris Match, The Guardian and other national and international publications.
He specializes in location photography and portraiture, serving a variety of clients including: University of Chicago, University of Illinois system, University of Notre Dame, numerous university alumni publications, Alliance for the Great Lakes, the Night Ministry, Midwest Energy News, Belt Magazine, and the Nature Conservancy.
DeGrane’s black & white documentary work has been exhibited at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Gage Gallery, the Chicago History Museum, and the Corcoran Gallery, among others.
He has documented the Illinois Prison System extensively with photos appearing in international publications and academic journals. He is currently working on a Fellowship from Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism on Homelessness and It’s Causes.
His photo documentation of home life and television watching in the Midwest resulted in the publication of Tuned In: Television in American Life, University of Illinois Press.
Current documentaries include:

• Development of sustainable energy alternatives
• Great Lakes water use

Discover Europe Photography Contest

Discover Europe is the biggest pan-European photography contest that has been organized annually by Erasmus Student Network. It was created for the youth, those who are passionate about photography, but do not necessarily have any professional experience, those who are not afraid to explicitly manifest their understanding of the surrounding world.

Students from all across Europe will have the chance to share their personal perception of the Old Continent, as this is the leading theme of each edition of the contest. The main concept behind Discover Europe is to facilitate intercultural dialogue and open up hitherto little accessible career paths for photography aficionados living in Europe through transforming ethnical diversity into unity.

The previous, 15th, edition was divided into three separate categories, namely “Citizen of Europe”, “Postcard from Europe” and “Surprise me, Europe!”.

The process of receiving applications begins on the 1st of March 2019 and terminates on the 31st od March 2019. Applications might be submitted through www.discovereurope.esn.pl platform.

The most outstanding pieces will be selected by professional jury. Winners will be awarded during a ceremony, which is going to take place in May 2019, in Warsaw.
